  1. I am planning a trip to Epernay to visit a couple champagne house and have lunch on March 23 (a Sunday). earliest train from Paris arrives at 11:53 and found a tour/tasting at Moet & Chandon from 1:45-3:15 and at Boizel from 4-5:15. is there time to have a quick lunch around 12:15 and make it to Moet by 1:45? Where would you recommend? Also… for a newbie to Epernay are these the houses you would recommend? We are walking from the train station so trying to keep it easy.

Also…are we better off doing a small group tour from Paris to Epernay vs navigating it all on our own? If so, any companies you can recommend? Thanks in advance!

    • Hello Melissa! 😊
Your plan for March 23 sounds fantastic! Yes, you can definitely enjoy a quick lunch before your Moët & Chandon tour. I recommend L’Oben, a cozy spot located just 5 minutes’ walk from both the train station and Moët. It’s perfect for a fast yet delicious meal. When you make your reservation, mention that you’re on a tight schedule and need to leave by 1:30 PM. Also, give them a gentle reminder when you arrive to ensure everything runs smoothly. Moët & Chandon and Boizel are excellent choices, especially for a first visit to Épernay! Both offer a glimpse into the world of prestigious Champagne houses. If you’re several people, consider booking a private driver from Paris to Épernay instead of the train. Surprisingly, the cost can be comparable to train tickets, and it offers much more flexibility for stops or exploring the scenic Champagne vineyards along the way. Alternatively, a small group tour from Paris could be an excellent option. These tours often include transportation, guided visits, and stops at beautiful viewpoints in the vineyards that you might miss otherwise. While your current plan focuses on iconic houses, a tour would provide more context about the Champagne region, its history, and its breathtaking landscapes (and maybe a smaller owner to experience the difference). You could also hire a chauffeur-guide for the day. This would allow you to visit Épernay, Hautvillers, an independent winemaker, and learn more about the vineyards along the way.
